i wondered about those little signs on my windows telling the folks my
camaro ('89 RS 173cui) was eqipped with a vehicle anti theft system.
iunfortunetly i got no user's manual with the car and so don't no what
it is like. to be honest i never mind.
now it more and more happens that i can't start the engine. it doesn't
make any sound except this surring sound from the right front. it
appears to me that all this happens with no reason. sometimes it is
after driving for along time, it happens after having not started the
engine for two days. i can wait 1 hour and it doesn't work and another
3 minutes later it does. Can this come from the anti theft system or is
it a problem of overheating (teprature somtimes shows 260° F - even
after 2 days) or what can it be.
any suggestion are welcome.

If you want a harder shift yet they say go to a shift kit then.
4) I have a b-&-m improver shift kit in my car. I don't recommend this
kit. Spend the money and get a Trans Go (they include your reverse and
tv boost valves along with a vette servo).
5) Gm makes a police package for the 700-r4 allowing WOT 3/4 shifting.
#8673948 this is a package that supposely includes all you need, other
than pan gaskets and new filter. This installs in the valve body.
It's a good idea to boost up your pressure cause I've heard these can
burn up your 3/4 bands from lack of fluid.
6) Check out
www.thirdgen.org they have a big message boards with vast
topics. From prom burning to sfcs... to LT1 intake swaps.

I came across this site from google. I was looking for sites on vette
servos and tv boost valves. Looks pretty neat. OK, here's my input
yes it's pretty long.
1) Acouple things to point out it's a .471 tv boost valve not a .470.
They price at gm list for 34 bucks (took quote from
gmpartsdirect.com ).
2) If your looking at cheaper parts than gm prices, try ebay I bought a
brand new vette servo (all seals included) and new .471 boost valve
from there for 39.60 shipped.
3) If you want to go with a bigger valve than a .500... Yes, they do
make them. Do a search for Young Racing Transmissions. They sell
a .521 75 more psi than stock for 90 bucks shipped (only company I know
of that offers this size). I've personally talked to them and they say
These valves will be fine in stock 700-r4s. (We'll all see I guess
when I put mine in. I'm wondering if I'm gonna blow the front seal...)
They go on to say that a servo and boost upgrade will usually provide a
hard enough shift,

Hey all you Camaro lovers out there! I am about to get my paws on a nice
89 IROC Z28. I am totally excited! But, I have a technical question
that is bothering me...the current owner has told me that the car has a
350(5.7L) TBI (throttle-body injected) small block. I am confused,
because I thought that all the 350 motors in the IROCS were TPI
(tune-port injected)? I am assuming that this is the original motor,
based upon what the gentleman has stated...
Does anyone know if Chevrolet manufactured IROCS with 350 TBI motors? I
know that the 305 small blocks had the option of TPI or TBI, but I did
not know that 350's had that same option. Please write to me
@ilovecamaros2@yahoo.com. Thanks! God bless.

Very cool web site.Alot of useful info as well. I have a 91 camaro with
the 3.1 v6. Bone stock it ran 17.14 in the 1/4. The only mods I have
done is put a dual snorkle air cleaner housing with k-&-n air filters,a
chip,92 16x8 z28 wheels,and 2.5 inch exhaust with free flowing
converter. It ran runs 16.20s with the 15 inch wheels.I havent ran it
yet with the new wheels. I know 16s is slow but considering the car has
166,000 miles and the v6 has never seen any work other than regular
maintenance I think that it does pretty well. I have a spare
intake, plenum and heads that I plan on porting out.Hopefully that will
get me into the high 15s. If anybody reading this has any knowledge of
the 3.1 v6s and how to squeeze out a few more ponys please email me.I
would love to hear from you and learn a thing or 2.Thanks.. Jerry

I have an 84 Sport Coupe. Its a V-6 with 105k miles I still manage to
get 36 mpg. Prior to my noticing a strong fuel smell I regularly got 40
and once 42 mpg. I recently put in some no smoke oil additive and that
reduced my burning of oil and seeing the usual whisps of smoke as it
sat at idel. I've a second carberator that the guy down at the local
NAPA atuo center will rebuild for $250, but I'm not so sure I want to
mess with that just yet. If I continue to get a solid 36 mpg I'll see
what a professional tuneup can do for me. I like to stiffen up the
suspension but do not know if the benifits will out weigh the expence.
This car has the stock 14 inch (BMW look) gold web wheels, and I have a
very nice set of clean (no paint) 15X60 series aluminum "CAMARO" five
spoke wheels (really cool looking but no tires yet) that I'd like to
throw on AFTER I get the front suspension parts replaced namely struts
and ideler arm. Im told by my trusted front end guy that nothing else

Cool sight man Iam the proud owner of an 84 camaro.I bought the car
for $500.00 bucks with a blown motor and dropped in a stock 350.We
spent an entire year running in the 16's. After a little research time
we pulled out the motor and started modding it.Heres the list: one four
bolt main 350 block that we had vatted, bored, line bored, decked and
magnafluxed.Next came a steel crank,pink rods,Speed Pro CNC machined
power forged pistons with domes about 10:1 compression,Crane cam, double
roller timing chain.I used a set of double hump 2.02/1.60 heads full
ported and polished, topped off with an Edelbrock Torker II intake and
a Holley 650 double pumper.I rebuilt the tranny(Turbo 350) and added a
3500rpm stall converter and put in a set of 4.10 gears.Hedman shorty
header came next with MSD ingnition. The car really comes to life now I
ran my best pass of 12.91 at 108.9mph, 60' at 1.59 to 1.63 any way
this is a cool sight keep it up.

I like your site. I had an 87 ta I bought for 500 bucks on this guys
moving day. He said it ran hot- I replaced the front airdam. It had sat
in his yard for 2 years where his kids played in and on it, and the car
had rotted inside and out. The body was showing surface rust, and the
interior smelled like something had died in it. It was a former Hertz
car, w/305 auto, and the air worked. I tuned the engine, and put
bilstein shocks and polygraphite bushings. With a new set of goodyears,
she handled GREAT. I scored some 1le brakes from a wrecked roadatlanta
club-racer. Problem- I was driving to and from Louisiana to work in
this punisher. The fiberglass racing seat was no help.
Solution- bought a 74 Caddy hearse!

as well. i have done more modifications from factory that i won't go

great web site. Iam 38 years old, I met my wife, when she bought her
second camaro, i was the mechanic that first serviced her car it was a
gold 1985 z-28, after 2 years we were married,in 1987, in 1993 we
decided to sell the car, with 52k miles and in excellent condition,
i have seen the car approximately, 3 x's since then, each time it is in
worse condition. last friday something told me to turn left onto a road
that i haven't driven down in almost 20 yrs., i drove about 300 yds.
and there sat our old 1985 camaro z-28, under 16 yrs. of ugly abuse i
still saw the beauty that she once was.i dilligently found out who
owned her, and am in the process of trying to regain ownership.

I like your site on the third generation camaro . Keep up the good
work . I had an 84 Z-28 ,t-tops,ac,5-speed,and Monte SS wheels. Keep
the heartbeat alive. Fords suck

Hey, you! Well, I promised to sign nicely, so I'll do it as nicely as
I can while still being honest. This site is COOL! I see a lot of
homepages, and none of them are this professional. Not to mention, the
owner of those cars is CUTE!
